PreK/K
The PreK/K teachers created a couple of resources using only the iPad during their session, a Numeracy eBook and a Phonics Video. To create the Numeracy eBook we first used Pic Collage to create a number board. We used Safari to search the internet for fun images of the numbers 1 thru 5, then added these images to PicCollage and jazzed it up with stickers etc. This final PicCollage was exported to the iPad camera roll. Book Creatorr was then use to create the numeracy eBook. The number board image was added to a page where we recorded their voice saying each number and placed the invisible sound button over each corresponding number making a number sound board. On the second page of the book we wrote a basic addition problem and used Tellegami to create an avatar reading the problem. And finally we recorded ourselves providing the correct answer to the problem. We saw great potential in using these apps to create a variety of interactive audio books with the PreK/K students.
To create the Phonics Video we first used Safari to search for images of objects beginning with the letters A, B, C, D and saved them to the camera roll. We then imported these images into iMovie. We recorded ourselves making the corresponding sound and name of the object along with two of the images. We then used Tellegami to create an avatar introducing the video and also have an avatar making the correct sound and name of the object for one of the slides. And finally we use Green Screen Movie FX to record an image of ourselves superimposed on the last image making the correct sound and name of the object. And to close our video we used Pic Collage to create a nice slide with an image of each PreK/K teacher with their names. We saw great potential for creating little videos of students providing facts about different subjects covered in the PrK/K curriculum.
Below you will find an example of a Numeracy Book and the final Phonics Video that was created during this session.

Grade 1
Grade one used similar apps as the other primary grades, but this session was based around their science unit on Mini-beasts. Throughout this session, the teachers used Book Creator to create a science journal. We started with Pic Collage and used this to gather images of mini-beasts to make a title page for their digital book. We used Brushes to create an image of one of their mini-beasts. The team then turned to Padlet, an online tool, to create a group page of what we know and what we don't know. This page was brought into our journal and we recorded audio responses over the page.
We then used the Green Screen Movie FX app to talk about their mini beasts and finished off with Morfobooth to bring their mini beast to life.
