Grade 2
This session was based around the content area of Fairy Tales. In this session, Neil started with a fun warm-up activity using the Vid Rhythm app and each member of the team added their own musical part to create an engaging piece of music. We then moved on to using an online tool called Padlet, where the teachers practiced adding different character traits from their own devices and as the traits were added, they popped up on the screen. What a wonderful way to make the student thinking visible. The teachers then turned to Popplet to make their own mind map of their character's traits. They then chose one of their pigs and found an image using Safari and Google to search. They used the Brushes app to draw over their pig and then brought this pig into the Tellegami app to share the character traits in a very visual way. The teachers were given even one more opportunity to explore using GreenScreen Effect apps to create a movie using the image they created with themselves in front of the image. iMovie was then used to put all of these parts together to create a final project. The teachers left this session with a variety of ways they can use their iPads with their students to promote learning.
Here is the final video the Grade 2 team created using the different apps mentioned above.
