Our grade one students are learning about communities so we decided to use our iPads to document our learning while on our recent field trip to the local community of Wilanow. On this trip, we visited and learned about many important places in our community and we also learned that in Wilanow, we have a very special place that not everyone has - a palace! During the field trip, each student took a picture of one place in the community using one of the class iPads. We had a checklist for each of the important locations. We put these images in the dropbox so we could easily access each image.
The day after we returned from our field trip, the students came to the Digital Creation Studio and used Book Creator to create a simple movie about what they had learned about the places in our community. Each student selected between 3-5 pictures from the dropbox and added them to the photos folder on their iPads. They then used Book Creator and made a simple title page, added the photos and recorded what they had learned on the field trip about the different locations. These books were recorded as videos so we could share them with our parents.
This was a very simple way for our young students to share what they learned while on their community field trip.
